I’ve been taking Resveratrol for over 6 months now. I began taking it for the potential heart benefits after reading several promising studies. There is rampant heart disease in my family and when I turned 50, I began taking this more seriously.

Only time will tell if it is heart protective, but my increased energy and weight loss alone would make me keep taking it now. (And being on the thinner side is good for your heart health.) I had read other reviews mentioning weight maintenance and more energy, but I didn’t have any expectations like that. After the first week of taking it, I didn’t really feel any different, but I realized that I had been much more active and gotten a lot more done. I definitely have more energy, but without any jittery or wired feeling.

I’ve also lost 17 pounds at this point. That is not a dramatic weight loss in over 6 months, but it is remarkable to me because I wasn’t trying. My diet didn’t change and I ate exactly as I always have – when I felt hungry. I was not obese to begin with. I am tall and I have always been extremely thin until I had my last child in my 40s. Then I put on 30 pounds over my usual weight. My BMI was still in the normal range, but I was 30 pounds heavier than my natural weight. I’m not sure if the weight loss is from being more active or from eating less or both, but it’s a nice bonus.

I have found no bad side effects yet. I have noticed increased digestion. Nothing unpleasant or scary – I’m just a “regular” girl now. Judging from all the Jamie Lee Curtis commercials for yogurt that makes you regular, this may be a plus for a lot of women!

There seems to be a lot variability from brand to brand and the first one I tried didn’t seem to be as consistent – even from capsule to capsule. I have found this brand and Bioforte Trans-Resveratrol to be excellent and consistent and reasonably priced. I buy whichever one is on sale when I am ordering.
